Chrysler Continues Kokomo Investment

Chrysler Group LLC has announced another investment in the Kokomo facilities -- this time for $85 million.
The latest investment will be focused on the Kokomo Transmission Plant in preparation for the next generation of eight-speed transmissions.
The $85 million is in addition to previou announcements of $300 million for the Kokomo Transmission and Casting Plants, as well as $843 million investment in the Indiana Transmission Plants One and Two.
Kokomo Mayor Greg Goodnight says the investment totals more than $1.3 billion -- nearly half of the automaker's total investment in U.S. facilities. The amount also makes Kokomo the recipient of the largest total investment in a single community.
Goodnight says the tax abatment proposals are being amended to include the newest addition and should be approved by the City Council with a few weeks.
